Product Review: Mrs. Meyers Cleaning Products

Mrs. Meyer’s rhubarb cleaning products.  Sadly the rhubarb line seems to be available only as a limited run Spring Cleaning Kit.  That is a shame because I like the scent.  This is especially true of the dish washing soap.  I have been using Mrs. Meyer’s for a few months and like the products.  For most things, I use and like the lavender scent; this includes laundry products and hand soap.  The rhubarb window cleaner did an amazing job on my car’s windshield.

I like the performance of the dish washing soap; in fact it is the first product to please me as much as Dawn.  However, I haven’t been thrilled with either the geranium scent (I didn’t like it at all) or the lavender (it just doesn’t seem clean enough smelling for dishes). I haven’t tried the lemon verbena because it didn’t pass the sniff test at the store.  I wish there was a mint or citrus scent.  The rhubarb is the best option I have found for dish soap.  I hope the grocery store still has some of the cleaning kits in stock next time I shop.

As for the performance of the products my only criticism so far is that when it comes to laundry , whites might not stay quite as white with Mrs. Meyer’s as they did with Tide but the trade off is worth it.  I can solve the white issue in a variety of ways.  I should note that I don’t have heavily soiled laundry so results might differ for those with children or jobs that are dirtier than gardening.

28 July 2008 Update:  After using the the Rhubarb products for a few weeks my endoresement is even stronger.  The window cleaner and counter top spray are wonderful.  The window cleaner made short work of a very nasty windshield and I now keep a bottle in my car.  My latest use for the counter top spray is to clean the wooden blinds in my kitchen.  It did an excellent job and made the kitchen smell wonderfully fresh. The ruhubarb scent also works for me when it comes to dishes.  I strongly prefer it to the lavender scent which I like for laundry.  I am curious to try the basil scent and hope that someday where will be a rosemary version.

  • I love Mrs. Meyer’s products. I’m a lavender lover no matter what the product, as long as it’s natural!

  • How did you solve the “whites problem”????

  • the basil sent is by FAR the best …wish I could find it in more places. I did not like the lemon verbena at all… and lavendar did not freshen it up enough..I love the basil all pourpose and the hand soap/ the only two in that sent I have found locally. hope I can continue to find it..

    • I haven’t tried the basil yet. So far the rhubarb scent has been my favorite but is was only available for a limited time. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. I am very grateful that a local supermarket, Wiseway, carries a partial selection of Mrs. Meyers products.
