My update is a bit early and small this week. I usually update on Monday and most activity occurs on the weekend. However, I am on stand by to deploy for disaster relief operations. Things may be on hold with my blog and my independence day activities for the next couple of weeks.
Gardening: Pulled the freckles lettuce, spinach, and bok choy. Replaced with New Zealand spinach, malabar spinach, more beans and some flowers. Added more herbs to the planting strip along the fence.
Harvested: The last of the freckles lettuce, spinach, kale, a few chard leaves, herbs, a few bok choy leaves, and green onions for salads. In the case of everything but the lettuce, I also added them to scrambled eggs. I also harvested strawberries 2, 3, and 4.
Preserved: Started drying herbs (so far lemon verbena, chives, thyme, parsley, basil)
Local foods: Shared some plants with friends.
Managed: Nothing specifid or new.
Learn something new: Doing research on companion plants.
Cook something new: cooked rhubarb for the first time.
Reduce waste: The usual recycling and composting.

So how was your rhubarb? I like rhubarb pie. Have you tried to grow any basil or cilantro?
